American Association of Individual Investors

I recently joined the American Association of Individual Investors (AAII). The AAII publishes a monthly newsletter that contains tips on investing. There are usually descriptions of several instruments, as well as suggested stock screens. (A stock screen is an algorithm for determining which companies to invest in by narrowing down the playing field using technical indicators.) The articles are written for the educated layman. While they are occasionally quantitative, all of the calculations are demonstrated so that you can reproduce them with your own investments or portfolio. The AAII also holds local chapter meetings, so that you can meet with other individual investors to hear their insights and discuss their strategies. With membership costing under $30 for a year, the information and resources provided by this organization seem like a good deal to me.
