Implications of the Dollar/Renminbi Exchange Rate

What impact does fluctuation in the dollar/renminbi exchange rate have on China and the United States? The deeper I have looked into this issue, the more I have realized that the impact is quite asymmetric. While changes in the exchange rate positively and negatively affect both nations, the exchange rate is not a zero-sum game.
